Marrakech

Marrakech was founded by Youssef Ibn Tachfine of the Almoravid dynasty in 1062.
This is one of the most popular destinations in Morocco.
The glorious era of the Almoravids resulting number of extraordinary monuments that characterize the city as mosques or madrassas (religious schools). Nicknamed red city, Marrakech has indeed a huge potential to please and attract visitors.
Marrakech is Morocco's 3rd largest city by population and is the tourist capital of the country.

Climate of Marrakech:

Marrakech has a continental climate with hot summers. In winter night temperatures may go down to the frost point. From November to March, temperatures hover around twenty degrees on the day. It rains very little in Marrakech. The Chergui, a hot wind from the Sahara, contributes to the hot summer temperatures.

Koutoubia:

Marrakech Koutoubia is the landmark,it dates from the twelfth century and has served as a model to build the Hassan Tower in Rabat and also at the Giralda in Seville.
The tower is seventy-seven meters to the top of the boom, Koutoubia is not open but you can walk in the gardens all around. Don't miss, at sunset, the Koutoubia lights, giving him a different look.

Jemaa el Fna:

This square is the principal tourist attraction of Marrakech. Real "court of miracles", it is animated by an intense life to offer an fabulous spectacle. Onlookers, musicians, shopkeepers, dancers, snake charmers, healers ... form a whimsical and colorful crowd. At nightfall, the gargotiers then settled and the place is transformed into a vast open-air restaurant where you are able to enjoy a low price all the local specialties.
The restoration is outdoors, in the foreground: tagines.
From the terrace of the cafes in the square, one can perceive the chain of snowy mountains a few miles away.

Souks:

In the souks of Marrakech you will find:
  • The souk brass.
  • Smata souk (Souk slippers).
  • Chouani souk (Souk weavers).
  • Habbadine souk (Souk blacksmiths).
  • The souk of dyers (Beautiful pictures guaranteed as many colors).
  • Cherratine souk (Souk leather).
Friday (day of great prayer) everything is almost closed between 11h and 16h; and also during certain festivals such as Eid el Kebir.

Menara:

Menara is located not far from the center of Marrakech, it's a large garden with forty varieties of olive trees around a vast pool that serves as a reservoir for irrigation of plants.
This basin is fed by an old hydraulic system called Qanat allowing to bring water from distant mountains thirty kilometers from Marrakech.
The Menara Gardens were built around 1147 by the Caliph Abd al-Mu'min which seized Marrakech in establishing the Almohads who supplanted the Almoravids.

Agadir

Agadir is located in the province of Souss-Massa-Draa, on the Atlantic coast in the south-west Morocco, North Africa. 235 km west of Marrakech, A 508 km south of Casablanca and 173 km of Essaouira.
Agadir is an exceptional site with a beautiful bay, very sunny with 300 days of sunshine a year. Its 20 km of beach rejoice all year thousands of vacationers, even in winter. European city par excellence, Agadir has a large hotel park.

With its mild climate throughout the year, Agadir is a vacation destination in Morocco, popular with tourists.
The city belongs to the region of Sousse. This region very fertile, exports fruit and vegetables in Europe and making the port of Agadir Morocco's second port after the port of Casablanca.
In 1960, Agadir was destroyed by an earthquake. Most of its traditional monuments were demolished. It was rebuilt as a modern reconstruction project.

Agadir Marina is a beautiful and friendly place overlooking the sea. The boats are moored to docks previously leased to the city. The Marina also hosts shops, cafes and luxury restaurants to do some shopping.

Agadir Corniche is one of the friendliest places in the city.The consists of green spaces, street lights, bathrooms, walkways, rest areas and restaurants.

Souk El Had

Souk El Had Agadir is the heart of the old médina.Il extends over an area of nine hectares. It has 6000 shops arranged in product families, as well as nine doors, with as many car parks in the open.
In the souk, a large number of traders gathered to offer customers a multitude of diverse and varied services, computer clothing or cosmetics to futures. Many textbooks and traditional crafts are the most beautiful pieces of Moroccan craftsmanship in a single place.

Kasbah

Kasbah Agadir is the most majestic of the city. It is a fortress overlooking the city and the beach and culminating at a height of 236 meters. The latter was built in 1540 by Moroccan King Mohammed Ech-Cheikh Saadi.
This is where was the former site of the city before the earthquake of 1960. A historical majestic place to walk around and admire the bay of Agadir.
During their walk, visitors will not forget that this fortress contained the oldest district of Agadir, at that time composed of small alleys and playful residents. The place is ideal to admire the city from all angles and the sunsets.
